Obtaining a Commercial Drone License.

The use of drones for commercial purposes has been on the rise in recent years, and obtaining a commercial drone license is essential for anyone who wants to operate a drone for business. Whether you plan to use a drone for aerial photography, mapping, or any other commercial purpose, obtaining a commercial drone license is the first step in the process.

In the United States, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires individuals to obtain a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate to operate a drone for commercial purposes. Here are the steps you need to take to obtain your commercial drone license:

Step 1: Meet the Requirements

To obtain a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, you must be at least 16 years old and able to read, write, and understand English. You must also pass a knowledge test and undergo a TSA background check.

Step 3: Schedule and Pass the Knowledge Test

Once you have studied the materials, you need to schedule and pass the knowledge test. The test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions and you have 2 hours to complete it. You need to score at least 70% to pass the test.

Step 4: Apply for your Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate

After you have passed the knowledge test, you can apply for your Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate through the FAA’s Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) system. You will also need to undergo a TSA background check before you can receive your certificate.
